This position involves irregular schedules, long hours, and weekends, in all types of weather, under hazardous conditions, around operating equipment, and/or a noisy environment.
Qualifications:
Safely and efficiently work around moving equipment while performing the various tasks unloading and storage of product being harvested.
Tasks may include: coordinate potato flow across collector and conveyor line, discarding diseased, rotting, inferior product, rocks, dirt debris and foreign material, operating shovel & wheel barrels to clean up work area, moving and securing tubes in place, report any mechanical or safety problems to a supervisor, perform various mechanical repairs and maintenance, positioning electrical cables, setting up and breaking down potato storage piling and handling systems , safely climb up and down equipment, and move and realign equipment.
Reports potentially unsafe conditions.
Skills/Traits Needed for Role:
Must know enough English to understand simple directions from a supervisor.
Must be able to stand for long period of time, job duties are performed primarily from a standing position.
Adapts to changes in the work environment; manages competing demands, able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
Full body mobility, ability to stand, walk, sit, twist, use tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, ladders, balance and kneel.
Perform all duties in accordance with Driscoll Brothers Partnership Employee Manuel, specifically but not limited to Food Safety & Hygiene Policy and Drug Free Workplace Policy.
Ability to maintain focus
Attention to detail and a commitment to product quality.
Ability to lift up and carry up to 40 pounds.
Must be punctual as directed and be prepared for work at the designated cellar.
